Duy Tan: At the King's River Pavilion

Evening, before the King's pavilion,

that move these mountains and rivers, our nation.

This popular song (ca dao) was composed by Ung Binh -Thuc Gia Thi,
at the time that the young King Duy Tan rebelled and took his court to the countryside until he was pursued, captured, and exiled by the French (1916). The young king had built a moon- watching pavilion,
called Phu Van Lau, on the Perfume River.
